This is a show to highlight how evocative of emotion Watercolor painting can be through the use of layering of color, hue, saturation, subtlety, color choice, and focus of the choice of imagery. It is the artist’s choice of what work they choose to create that can and does reach the viewer and evoke an emotional response. Emotion can be many things and the artist considered this idea when creating. Artists consider the subject matter of personal or universal significance, such as nature, human beings, or animals. Watercolor has a luminous and transparent effect. Built in layers, watercolor can create depth and texture with various watercolor techniques. Watercolor allows spontaneous, unpredictable flow and should evolve organically. Drama and mood can highlight the theme of this artwork.
The fluidity of watercolor lends itself to capturing the ephemeral and the intangible, allowing the artist to create sensitive and nuanced readings of emotion. Artists carefully consider the subject matter for personal or universal significance, such as nature, human beings, or animals.

Second Prize--"He Gave Everything" -- Mona Lewis

Trying to capture him in a noble way,

Natural habitats continue to be developed and inaccessible to wildlife. Susie is an urban deer...a life fraught with poor nutrition and accidents in the road. Susie was moved to a safe and wild area. She had an unconditional love for people and life no matter what the circumstances. I am mainly self taught and enjoy the challenge of this elusive medi
